Prince George’s County Police arrested and charged the suspect in connection with a bank robbery in College Park Wednesday.
On Feb. 20, Tysean Deonta Daughtry, 22, of the 1200 block of South View Drive in Oxon Hill, allegedly entered a bank at the 5600 block of Greenbelt Road around 12:30 p.m. Daughtry allegedly demanded cash and ran away with some, police said.
The department released surveillance photos of the suspect on Wednesday, and police charged Daughtry Wednesday in connection with the robbery, according to police.
Detectives released an arrest warrant for a suspect in connection with a shooting that took place in Riverdale this month. The warrant has since been served, said Officer Harry Bond, a spokesperson for the Prince George’s County Police Department.
Police identified Joshua Donte Daley, 27, of the 5500 block of 59th Avenue in Riverdale, as the suspect in the Feb. 18 shooting incident.
Daley allegedly got into an argument with an acquaintance and shot the victim at 59th Avenue. The shooting victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to a media release.
Prince George’s County Police detectives canvassed the area of a recent sexual assault incident in attempts to find more information about Bladensburg incidents this week.
Around 7:45 p.m. on Feb. 25, a male suspect allegedly sexually assaulted a pedestrian at the 4100 block of 54th avenue.
On Friday, Feb. 27 at 6:30 p.m., detectives began searching the area near where the most recent sexual assault took place.
“[Detectives] believe that this particular assault was linked to two others that happened last year,” Bond said.
On Sept. 8 around 6:45 p.m., a male suspect allegedly sexually assaulted a female pedestrian at the 5100 block of Quincy Street while she was walking along a trail. On Oct. 20, a male suspect allegedly assaulted a victim at the 5800 block of Annapolis Road around 8:45 p.m.
Police ask that anyone with information on the assaults come forward by calling the CID Sexual Assault Unit at(301) 772-4908.
Fatal pedestrian collision
A Clinton resident died after being involved in a fatal pedestrian collision in Camp Springs Saturday, according Prince George’s County Police.
An SUV traveling westbound struck Calvin Whitting, 50, of Goblet Drive in Clinton at the 5800 block of Allentown Road in Camp Springs around 9:45 p.m. on Feb. 28. Police responded to the incident and found Whitting in the road, police said.
Whitting had allegedly been lying in the road before the crash, police said. The driver remained at the scene.
“The victim was laying in the roadway prior to the collision. As to why he was in the roadway, that’s part of the investigation,” Bond said.
