BOWIE — Kaiser Permanente announced it would open a new medical center in Prince George’s County prospectively in 2020 due to the growing demand for their healthcare and coverage.
“Kaiser Permanente is committed to creating a healthy Prince George’s County for all residents,” said Scott Lusk, spokesperson for Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic States. “We are thrilled to be part of this growing community and look forward to being a part of its bright future.”
The 45,558 square-foot facility was announced on Friday, Sept. 7. Located at 5404 Hillmeade Road in Bowie, the center will provide primary care, behavioral health, optometry, pharmacy, laboratory and imaging services.
Kaiser Permanente has seen significant growth in membership in Prince George’s County over the past few years.
There were 99,000 members in 2013 and nearly 140,000 members now, and the company already has four other medical centers in the county, in Hyattsville, Suitland, Temple Hills and Upper Marlboro, to support the growing demand.
“No other private healthcare company has invested more into the health of our residents and communities than Kaiser Permanente,” County Executive Rushern Baker, III said. “We are very thankful for their partnership and appreciate their continued commitment to enhancing access to quality healthcare for the people of Prince George’s County and the region.”
The company has a history of being one of the top medical providers in the county, gaining the highest possible rating of five out of five stars from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for six years in a row.
“Kaiser Permanente’s state-of-the-art medical centers are designed to provide all aspects of care for our members in a very convenient way,” Lusk said. “With physicians, specialties, lab, pharmacy and X-ray in one convenient location, our medical centers are designed for the way we all live our lives today.”
On top of having a state-of-the-art medical center, the goal is to provide top-notch care to the community. They want to ensure that their patients continue to receive the highest possible quality of care and with that had their physicians involved with the design of the medical center to make sure it will have everything their patients and doctors will need.
“When they come to this new medical center, patients can not only expect the extraordinary care that has earned Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States the number one spot for quality in the nation, but they will also experience the ease of care that comes from having pharmacy, radiology and a laboratory located in the same building,” said Associate Executive Director of The Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group Bernadette Loftus.
With such an increase in demand for the company in Prince George’s County, Kaiser Permanente has been very involved in community outreach over the last few years.
“Kaiser Permanente is a proud member of the Prince George’s County community,” Lusk said.
