SEABROOK – Over 200 people joined Maryland Congressman Jamie Raskin (D-8) in “taking the plunge” during the 15th Annual “Keep Winter Cold” Polar Bear Plunge by the Chesapeake Climate Action Network at the National Harbor on Jan. 25.
As the global temperature continues to rise after each year, speakers at this year’s event stressed the goal of alerting the public about climate change concerns.
“We are in a civilizational emergency with the accelerating dynamics of climate chaos,” Raskins said. “Donald Trump has turned us into an environmental rogue state, but we must act as global first responders to unify the world to cut carbon emissions in half this decade.”
